Bankrupt 4 Life
Personal Illustration
The idea came to me when I was feeling a bit overwhelmed professionally and personally at the same time. Sometimes it feels like we just work hard to earn more money, accumulating more stuff—while losing sight of what actually brings fulfillment in our lives.

The illustration
Portraying a hybrid robot/human being sitting in his cubicle with laser type focus (quoting Bruce Lee in a bad way) on work in front of the screen as the main focus of life captured that feeling for me at the time. Here, my penchant for dark humor also shines through.

Process
Here's a litte glimpse in to the process of creating this illustration. I begin by outlining the piece in black, to get the contrast right. Next, I build up texture using a marker pen brush in procreate to add some handmade character to the piece. After texturing I start coloring, using colors that contrast well with one another and highlights important parts of the illustration. Lastly I refine the details and add some paper texture, then give it some breathing room around the edges.
